KMC medics treated 26 individuals for free after they arrived in Solukhumbu
SOLUKHUMBU: DEC. 2 – Twenty-six patients have undergone surgery at a free health camp run by Kathmandu Medical College at Sinamangal in Kathmandu’s Nechasalyan Rural Municipality in the Himalayan district of Solukhumbu. KMC doctors performed ‘minor surgery’ on the patients who came to the camp due to various health problems.
There are more people with lumps in the body than those undergoing surgery. A team including KMC surgeon Dr. Sampan Pandey operated on the patient. Narayan Dahal, general manager of KMC, said that it was easy to operate on the patients as the camp was set up at the primary health center at Nechasalyan Rural Municipality-2.
Twenty-six patients with common problems have been operated on in the camp, ‘Dahal said, adding that the camp has made it easier for them to undergo surgery, while those who are unable to undergo surgery here have been referred to the hospital for surgery.
A total of 151 patients who could not be treated at the camp and had to undergo surgery have been referred to the hospital. KMC has conducted a four-day camp from last Sunday to Wednesday in collaboration with Nechasalyan Rural Municipality, Ward No. 2, Ward No. 1 and Salyan residents.
Meanwhile, 4,150 people were treated free of cost at the camp, including blood tests of 963 patients, video X-rays of 753 patients and heart examination (ECG) of 324 patients, according to the organizers. When the specialist doctors from Kathmandu came to the village, the camp was full of patients.
Patients from Salyan Tari, Khalpa, Ture, Tilpung, Kumal Village, Gairi Danda, Khurke, Ratamata, Naya Bazar and other areas came to the camp for treatment. KMC has been conducting free health camps in different districts targeting needy patients in rural areas.
Since Dr. Sunil Sharma took over as the Chairperson of KMC, KMC has started running free health camps. KMC has stated that the operation of free health camps will be continued.
