RPP leadership selection process from today
KATHMANDU: DEC. 2 – The process of selecting the new leadership of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is starting from today. The election process is set to begin today (Thursday) under the RPP’s unity convention which started on Wednesday.
Kamal Thapa and Rajendra Lingden have announced their candidacies for the post. Another president of RPP, Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani has supported Lingden. Another chairman, Pashupati Shamsher JB Rana, said that the leadership should be selected on the basis of consensus for party unity.
Both Thapa and Lingden, candidates for the chairperson, have put forward the agenda of restoring the monarchy and Hindu state and abolishing federalism. Though the possibility of unanimous leadership selection from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) general convention is almost out of the question, the leaders have said that they will try to reach a consensus.
From the platform, senior leaders have put pressure on Kamal Thapa and Rajendra Lingden, who have been nominated for the post, to select the leadership unanimously.
