Rival faction to field common candidates in state committee
KATHMANDU: DEC. 1 – The non-establishment group of the Nepali Congress has decided to field a common candidate from its side in the party’s state committee. According to Ram Chandra Poudel’s secretariat, the meeting held at the residence of General Minister Dr. Shashank Koirala in Maharajgunj also decided to hand over the responsibility of finalizing the candidates of the state committee to the central leaders of the concerned states.
Accordingly, Bal Bahadur KC, Mahesh Acharya, Dr. Minendra Rijal, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Sarita Prasai and Gururaj Ghimire have been assigned to decide the candidates for the first state. Similarly, Sita Devi Yadav, Ram Krishna Yadav and Kiran Yadav will decide the candidates in State-2.
In Bagmati, Prakash Man Singh, Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Arjun Narasingha K.C. and Gagan Thapa and in Gandaki, Ram Chandra Poudel, Dr. Shashank Koirala, Dil Bahadur Gharti, Kamala Panta and Jeevan Pariyar have been given this responsibility.
Similarly, Deepak Giri and Chandra Bhandari in Lumbini, Hridaya Ram Thani in Karnali and Dilendra Prasad Badu and Badri Pandey in Far-Western have been given the responsibility. The responsible leaders have agreed to decide the candidature by discussing and consulting with the candidates and leaders of the respective states.
The meeting was attended by senior Congress leaders Ram Chandra Poudel, General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala, former General Secretary Prakash Man Singh, leaders Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Arjun Narasimha KC, Deepak Giri and Gagan Thapa.
