Where Sitaula became the president of the party with the support of Deuba’s party
POKHARA: NOV. 30 – Baglung’s poll results have been made public. According to the results released on Tuesday, Jeet Sherchan has emerged victorious in Baglung. Krishna Sitaula is close to Sherchan Kendra, who became the president from the second phase. Out of 11 districts of Gandaki, only in Baglung, the president of the Sitaula faction has won.
In the first round of the election, there were three contestants and none of them could cut 50 percent. Sherchan, who came second in the first round, defeated his nearest rival Jagadish Chandra Upadhyaya by a margin of 105 votes with the support of leaders and cadres close to President Sher Bahadur Deuba. Upadhyaya is close to senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel.
Sherchan got 873 votes while Upadhyaya got 768 votes. Drona Kunwar near Deuba was defeated in the first round. With Sherchan’s victory, the representative of West Baglung has come to the leadership for the first time in the history of the Nepali Congress.
