UML Poll Update: More than 1600 votes cast
CHITWAN: NOV. 30 – Voting is underway for the election of the new leadership of the UML. As of this writing, more than 1,500 voters have cast their ballots in the ongoing polls in Chitwan.
Provision has been made for 69 people to cast their votes at a time through voting sessions. UML Central Election Commission member Baburam Dahal informed Makalu Khabar that the polling is expected to end by 12 noon.
Along with the UML chairperson, vice-chairperson and secretary, voting is also taking place in the central members of various clusters. KP Sharma Oli and Bhim Rawal have been nominated for the post. Astalaxmi Shakya, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Yuvaraj Gyawali, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Surendra Prasad Pandey and Subash Chandra Nemwang have been nominated for the post.
Gokarna Bista, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Tanka Prasad Karki, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Padmakumari Aryal, Bhim Prasad Acharya, Yogesh Bhattarai, Raghubir Mahaseth and Lekhraj Bhatta have been nominated for the post of secretary.
The general convention being held at Sauraha in Chitwan will have a 301-member central committee with 19 members. Central Election Commission Chairman Bijay Subba said that 333 candidates have been registered in the Central Committee for the new leadership.
