Claiming that he has the support of all the senior leaders of the party and the general electorate, Thapa has announced his candidature, vowing not to allow the party to split.
Earlier, Rajendra Lingden had also announced his candidature for the post of RPP chairperson at the RPP general convention to be held in Kathmandu on December 1, 2 and 3. Dr. Dhawal Shamsher Rana will be the General Secretary from his team.
Among the RPP chairpersons, Pashupati Shamsher Rana has announced that he will not be a candidate. Another chairperson, Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani is still adamant about this. The RPP, which has been splitting and uniting time and again, is in favor of the king and the Hindu state in Nepal.
