Lumbini tops the list, beating the undefeated State 1
KATHMANDU: NOV. 29 – Lumbini has risen to the top of the points table with an impressive six-wicket win over State One in the ongoing U-19 National ODI Cricket Tournament in Kathmandu. Lumbini climbed to the top spot with its fourth win in its fifth game.
State 1, which was undefeated in three consecutive games, was forced to lose in the fourth game. After losing the toss at the TU ground in Kirtipur, State 1 was all out in 37.2 overs and managed to score only 106 runs. Lumbini reached the target with a victory target of 107 runs, losing 4 wickets in 23.3 overs and winning by 6 wickets.
Captain and opener David Khanal scored 25 runs while Bishal Bikram KC scored 26 runs to give Lumbini a comfortable victory. Similarly, Wazir Ahmed remained unbeaten on 24 runs. Earlier, opener Aakash Tripathi added 13 runs while Bikram Bhandari scored 16 runs.
Dipesh Kandel took 2 wickets for State 1 while Gaurav Katwal and Lubh Kamat took 1 wicket each.
Only three players managed to score a double run for a state that had performed poorly before. Gaurav Katwal top-scored with 19 runs while Deepak Joshi and Rakesh Shah contributed 18 and 13 runs respectively for State 1. After a poor start, State One lost the first wicket for seven runs.
They then dropped three wickets for 20 runs.
There was no fast partnership between any of the players of State 1. After losing one wicket after another, State 1 was reduced to 106 runs in one innings.
Mohammad Hussain of Lumbini took five wickets, Wazir Ahmed three and Durgesh Gupta two. With the victory, Lumbini’s final journey has become stronger.
