18 candidates for 14 posts

CHITWAN: NOV. 29 – In the 10th general convention of CPN-UML, 18 candidates have been fielded for 14 posts. There are two candidates for the post of chairperson till the time of registration of candidature. Similarly, there are seven candidates for six vice-chairperson. Similarly, the Election Committee has stated that there are nine candidates for the post of seven secretaries.

KP Sharma Oli and Bhim Rawal have registered their candidacies for the post. Expressing dissatisfaction with the list submitted by chairperson KP Sharma Oli in the closed session, the current Deputy General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal has also registered his candidature for the post of Vice-Chairperson. The names of Yuvaraj Gyawali, Astalaxmi Shakya, Surendra Pandey, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Bishnu Poudel and Subash Chandra Nemwang were announced on Sunday night. Similarly, elections are also to be held for the post of secretary.

Similarly, there are nine candidates for seven secretaries. Bhim Acharya and Tanka Karki have also registered their candidacies after Oli nominated Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Raghubir Mahaseth, Lekhraj Bhatta, Yogesh Bhattarai, Gokarna Bista and Padma Aryal as secretaries.

There are 2175 delegates in the General Convention. The election committee has stated that the polling will start after 9 pm on Monday.
