NEW DELHI: NOV. 29 – A 32-year-old Indian citizen who came in Mumbai through Delhi from South Africa tested positive for COVID-19, according to media reports on Monday.

However, it is unknown if he was affected by the Omicron version of COVID-19.

According to the report, a traveler landed in India from South Africa on November 24 and tested positive based on samples gathered upon his arrival.

“The traveler flew from Cape Town to Delhi via Dubai. He was allowed to board the connecting aircraft to Mumbai after providing a sample in Delhi. He was discovered to be positive upon his arrival in Mumbai. He is asymptomatic and has been quarantined at home. Later, he was isolated in a facility “According to a top health official in Mumbai.

Mumbai health department has alerted the airport authorities and efforts are made to locate the man’s co-passengers.

Meanwhile, his samples have been sent for genome sequencing to find out if he is carrying the Omicron variant first detected in South Africa.
