BIRATNAGAR: NOV. 28 – Deu Kumar Thebe has been elected as the president of Nepali Congress Jhapa. Defeating Ram Bahadur Kattel by 250 votes, Thebe has been elected as the district president.

Thebe was nominated by Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Kattel by Congress spokesperson Bishwaprakash Sharma.

According to the Election Committee, Thebe got 1765 votes and Kattel got 1515 votes out of 3311 votes cast.

Thebe’s panel has been elected as the office-bearers. According to the election committee, Keshav Raj Pandey and Sher Bahadur Bhattarai have been elected as vice-president, Nabin Bimali and Krishna Humagain as secretaries and Kalendra Rajbanshi and Kamal Bhandari as joint secretaries.
