Congress election: Shrestha defeated Maharjan by 12 votes in Lalitpur

KATHMANDU: NOV. 28 – Jitendra Kumar Shrestha has been elected as the President of Nepali Congress Lalitpur. In the second round of voting, Shrestha defeated Ram Krishna Chitrakar by 12 votes. Shrestha got 665 votes and Chitrakar got 653 votes, according to the Election Committee.

In the second round, there was a contest between Shrestha and Chitrakar, who got the most votes, as no candidate could get 50 percent of the votes.

Meena Krishna Maharjan, who came third in the first round of voting, supported Chitrakar but Shrestha emerged victoriously. Both Chitrakar and Shrestha are considered close to Deuba.
