Thakur warns to take human chain on the road if demand is not addressed
KATHMANDU: NOV. 26 – Democratic Socialist Party Chairman Mahanta Thakur has demanded the release of his jailed comrades from Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Addressing the tenth general convention of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) in Chitwan, Chairman Mahanta Thakur demanded Prime Minister Deuba to release his comrades as per the agreement reached during the KP Sharma Oli-led government.
Stating that he was grateful for the goodwill shown by Oli towards the leaders and cadres, Thakur pressured the government to address their demands. Reminding that a big human chain has been taken out to address the flaws in the constitution, he warned to release the human chain again if the leaders/activists in the jail are not released.
According to Thakur, no hearing has been held despite the request of the Prime Minister regarding the jail terms of the lawmakers in various cases. No hearing has been held on the release of the detainees and withdrawal of the case. He said that if only assurances are given and if not implemented, the human chain of 2 million people could take to the streets again.
