Preparations for the Congress’s State 1 convention are in full swing
BIRATNAGAR: NOV. 24 – Nepali Congress has intensified preparations for the first state convention of State 1. Speaking at a press conference in Biratnagar regarding the convention, Rajiv Koirala, coordinator of the convention organizing committee, said that the convention would be held in Biratnagar on Mangsir 16 (Dec. 2.)
Announcing the decisions of the meeting chaired by Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Central Member of Nepali Congress State 1 Convention Organizing Committee, Koirala said that the first convention of Nepali Congress State 1 would be inaugurated on vacant land of Birat Nursing Home in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-2 Shakarpur and the entire election program of the state working committee will be held at Siddhi Party Palace on 9 Jahada Road, Biratnagar, he said.
The first convention will be inaugurated by Central Member and Coordinator of the Organizing Committee Krishna Prasad Sitaula.
He said that the Nepali Congress Morang District Committee will be in charge of the entire management including accommodation in the state convention which will be attended by 1700 people.
A fundraising committee has been formed with Nepali Congress Morang president Dig Bahadur Limbu as convener and Bhim Parajuli as co-convener as well as central members Amrit Aryal, Pawan Sarda and invited central member Hasan Ansari as advisors to conclude the convention.
A campaign committee comprising Rajiv Koirala, leader of the Nepali Congress state parliamentary party and Lila Ballabh Ghimire, state coordinator of the Nepal Press Union has been formed as the member secretary for the campaign.
The members of the committee are Dhan Bahadur Puri, Secretary of State 1 of the Press Union, Bhoj Raj Basnet, Chairman of the Union Morang, Kumar Luintel and Ajit Jha.
According to the Nepali Congress, in the first state convention of the Nepali Congress, 700 regional delegates, including the regional chairpersons of 28 federal constituencies of 14 districts of State 1 and delegates of the federal general convention at the rate of 25 delegates, there will be a total of 952 delegates from 56 constituencies, including the regional chairpersons of the constituencies, representing the provincial conventions and 19 members of the Congress central members from the fraternal organizations and well-wishers.
Morang district president Dig Bahadur Limbu said that they would come for the session from the 15th of this month, the inauguration would be held on the 16th and the election process would start on the 17th.
