Over 1,500 security personnel will be deployed for the UML National Congress
KATHMANDU: NOV. 23 – With the CPN UML’s 10th National Congress just around the horizon, efforts are being made to provide appropriate security for the program, particularly during the opening and closing sessions.
More than 1,500 security personnel will be deployed for the opening and closing sessions of the UML National Congress, which will be held in Chitwan from Nov. 26 to 28. The inauguration ceremony, however, would take place on the Narayani River bank.
In view of the inaugural, security situation has been beefed up at Nawalparasi Susta Purba and Chitwan districts. The security chiefs in the districts informed that additional security persons were demanded for general convention. The security agencies in both districts are working in cooperation and coordination to this regard.
Major spots as Gaidakot and Chitwan will have security persons from Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department. Superintendent of Police at District Police Office Nawalparasi Susta Pauba, Prakash Malla, said Province Office Pokhara was demanded additional security force targeting the UML’s National Congress. The additional security force arrives by Wednesday morning, he added.
The vehicles coming from the west would be stopped at Gaidakot and asked for parking on the bank of Narayani River. Similarly, further coordination is built with Rupandehi police to assist in managing traffic.
Similarly, Chief District Officer at Chitwan, Ashman Tamang, informed that even the discussion was held with UML office bearers in the districts to manage security situation and traffic arrangement.
