De Villiers retires from all forms of cricket
KATHMANDU: NOV. 19 – South African batsman AB de Villiers has retired from cricket. He tweeted that he had decided to retire from cricket in all formats. I’ve had so much fun playing cricket so far. ‘ De Villiers, 37, said: “It would not have been possible without the support of my parents, family, wife and children.
He even said that he would spend more time with his family. “So now is the time to put them first,” he said.
He recalled all his teammates, members of the opposition team he played cricket with, all the coaches, physios and staff, and the honors he had received in South Africa and India.
He was associated with Bangalore in the IPL. De Villiers has played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 Twenty20 Internationals.
He played Test cricket from 2004 to 2018 and scored 8,765 runs in 114 Tests and 9,577 runs in 228 ODIs from 2005 to 2018.
Similarly, he has scored 1,672 runs in 78 games of T20 International and 5,162 runs in 184 games of IPL. He did not play Test and ODI cricket in 2018.
It has been an incredible journey, but I have decided to retire from all cricket.
