KATHMANDU: NOV. 15 – Construction of 132/33/11 KV substation in Banganga Municipality-7 of Kapilvastu and Sandhikharka of Arghakhanchi has reached the final stage.

Work is underway with the aim of bringing Kapilvastu’s Motipur and Arghakhanchi’s Sandhikharka substations into operation by Dec. 1 and 30, respectively.

The final phase of construction is underway at Motipur and Sandhikharka substations under the Burtiwang-Paudi Amarai-Tamghas-Sandhikharka Gorusinge 132 KV transmission line project.

The substation will have 30 and 16 MVA power transformers. All the equipment of the substation are being connected and tested.

East-West 132 KV line will be constructed in 8 towers and taken to Motipur substation.

The tower has been constructed for this and the wire is being pulled. The foundations of 106 towers along the Motipur-Sandhikharka transmission line under the project have been laid.

87 towers have been erected and 12 kilometers of wire has been laid. The length of the transmission line of this section is 68 kilometers. Work is underway to complete the construction of the transmission line within the next 15 days and bring it into operation.

After the completion of the construction of the Motipur-Sandhikharka transmission line and substations, electricity will be supplied to the local area from there.

From this, the power supply of Kapilvastu, Arghakhanchi, Palpa and Gulmi districts will be reliable and quality. Technical leakage of electricity will also be reduced.

At present, electricity is being supplied to Argharkhachi, Palpa and Gulmi through 33 kV transmission line from Butwal. When the 33 kV transmission line is very long, there is a problem of line tripping and flashing of voltage. There is also technical leakage.

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Kulman Ghising said that the work should be completed ahead of schedule after monitoring the construction site of the Motipur substation and transmission line.

“I have received many complaints directly from Arghakhanchi, Palpa and Gulmi districts saying that the power has been lost. We have been insulted by the consumers, so the construction of substations and transmission lines should be completed as soon as possible to provide quality and reliable electricity to the consumers.”

Mentioning that the electricity generated is in the drive to be consumed within the country, he said that after the construction of substation and transmission line, the industries in this region can be provided as much electricity as they need.

The project has been constructed to improve the power supply of Kapilvastu, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Palpa and Baglung districts, solve the problem of tripping, reduce technical leakage and provide electricity to private sector hydropower projects.

Under the project, substations are under construction at Tamghas of Gulmi, Paudi Amarai and Burtibang of Baglung.
