Pfizer vaccine to be given from today
KATHMANDU: NOV. 14 -The Pfizer vaccine against coronavirus will be given to chronically ill people above 12 years of age from today. The first dose of this vaccine will be given to the chronically ill from today till November 20. The second dose will be given 21 to 28 days after the first dose. The second dose will be applied from Dec. 13 to 17.
About 50,000 long-term patients will get the Pfizer vaccine through the COVAX facility, said Sagar Dahal, head of the vaccination branch under the Health Services Department, Family Welfare Division. According to Dahal, the government plans to make the Pfizer vaccine available to citizens in the age group of 12-17 years from November 21 to 23, giving priority to the chronically ill who are yet to be vaccinated. Nepal has received one lakh 620 volumes of Pfizer Bioentech through the COVAX facility.
While going for vaccination, the chronically ill person must carry the treatment prescription of the disease issued by the hospital or the doctor. He said that the Pfizer vaccine will be available in Vial as a thick liquid. The vaccine is usually a liquid or light pale white color. Pfizer should be dissolved before vaccination. He says that after mixing, there will be 6 quantities in one vial. He also said that it may take more time for Pfizer to be vaccinated than other vaccines against coronavirus. The vaccine will be administered in a total of 24 hospital vaccination centers, including 8 inside the Kathmandu Valley and 16 outside.
These are targeted chronically ill groups
- Having had heart surgery or taking medication.
- Kidney transplant, dialysis, or medication.
- Treating any type of cancer.
- Taking medicine for lung-related diseases.
- Taking medicine for organ transplant disease.
- Organ transplants.
- Being treated for high blood pressure or diabetes.
- In case of low immunity.
- Diseases of the brain and blood vessels of the brain.

Common side effects seen after Pfizer vaccination
- Pain, light redness and swelling at the injection site
- Headache, cold and fever
- Muscles ache and joints ache
- Feeling unwell and nauseous
- Feeling tired
- Swollen and sore armpit glands of the injected hand
In case of these problems, a doctor is advised. According to the Ministry of Health, such problems will be cured in 2-3 days. Exceptions to the Pfizer vaccine can be an unwanted events.
Symptoms may include anaphylaxis, myocardial infarction, pericarditis, small body aches and itching, body aches and itching, and facial swelling. According to Dahal, symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, severe pain in the injected hand and fainting may also be seen.
He said that it is mandatory to stay at the vaccination center for at least 30 minutes after vaccination. He says that after the vaccination, the anaphylaxis reaction will be monitored.
