UML General Convention: 1,999 delegates being elected
KATHMANDU: NOV. 13 – The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) is electing delegates from all over the country on Saturday. Chief of the Publicity Department Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai informed that representatives would be selected from the districts on the basis of organized membership. UML has claimed that it has more than 800,000 organized members.
A total of 1,999 delegates will be elected from the organized members. UML has also stated that it has been unanimously selected in some places. There is an arrangement to select three members, including one woman and two open members, from the first 1,200 organized members in the House of Representatives.
If there are more than 800 members, there will be one more, if there are more than 1600 members, there will be two more, if there are more than 2400 members, there will be at least three members including one woman. UML has made it mandatory for at least one woman to be elected when three representatives are elected.
One representative to be elected from among the 500 Dalit party members in the districts and special districts of the country. If up to 1000 members are added, 2 more will be elected, if up to 15 hundred members are added, at least 3 people including 1 woman will be elected.
There will be 7 members, including at least 3 women, from among the members of the Majdoor Party under the geographical states. UML is holding its tenth national general convention in Chitwan from November 26 to 28.
