‘Phalgunanda Jayanti’ being observed today
KATHMANDU: NOV. 11 – The 137th birth anniversary of Mahaguru Phalgunanda of Kirant Dharma is being celebrated today by organizing various programs. Phalgunanda was born in a normal family in Ilam on Kartik 25, 1942.
He has made a significant contribution to the reform of Kirant language, script, culture and society. Phalgunanda had even formulated a policy for social reform. Which is called Satya Dharma Muchulka. It was released on Baisakh 24, 1988.
Phalgunanda, who contributed by formulating policies for the betterment of the Kirant society, died in 2005 BS. In recognition of his contribution to the betterment of Kirant society, he was declared a national hero by the government on Mangsir 16, 2066 BS.
In recognition of his contribution, Phalgunanda Jayanti is celebrated in the eastern hill districts of Taplejung, Terhathum, Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa and other districts inhabited by the Kiranti community.
Chairman of the Kirant Astrology Association Chandra Kumar Sharma informed that the Kirant community celebrates Mahaguru Phalgunanda Jayanti with various programs in the capital.
