Brawl between inmates at Morang Prison

BIRATNAGAR: NOV. 9 – Lately, there has been a scuffle in Morang Prison. The inmates are agitating saying that the inmates inside the Morang Prison have been harassed by the watchman Kiran Gurung.

It is alleged that the prisoner was tortured by the deputy head of the inmate and his brother under Gurung’s direction. The inmates have agitated by detaining 14 members of his group including watchman Gurung and his brothers in a room inside the jail.

Six inmates were injured in the brawl. Jailor Ram Prasad Pokharel informed that some of the heroes including watchman Gurung were injured in the incident.

According to the prison administration, watchman Kiran Gurung and heroes Shekhar Rai, Nirmal Dhakal, Bishal Muktang, Dilli Dewan and Suryadeep Gupta were involved in the clash.

Police said that the detainees were taken out of the jail and kept in a safe place. As there is no living environment for the 14 inmates, they are being transferred to other prisons, said Pokharel.

Assistant Chief District Officer and Information Officer of the District Administration Office, Morang, Mahesh Prasad Timsina said that there was a general dispute in the prison and it has been resolved. “Some time ago there was an argument between the prisoners,” he said. “Now the situation is normal.”
