Government decides to purchase 10 million vaccines for children
KATHMANDU: NOV. 9 – One million doses of vaccine against coronavirus for children is to come to Nepal. A cabinet meeting on Monday decided to purchase an additional 10 million vaccines, a minister said.
Earlier, the government had started the process for purchasing Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. It has been decided that the vaccine will come after the decision of the Council of Ministers. On Monday, the cabinet decided to purchase 6 million Pfizer and 4 million Moderna vaccines.
Moderna and Pfizer vaccines can be given up to age 12 years above. Vaccine Pfizer against COVID-19 and a refrigerator for storing Moderna vaccines have already arrived in Nepal. Vaccines can be stored in the refrigerator at temperatures as low as minus 80 degrees Celsius.
The Pfizer vaccine should be stored at a temperature of minus 70 degrees Celsius. Vaccines such as Covishield, Vero Cell, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson have so far arrived in Nepal. The vaccines can be stored at two to eight degrees Celsius.
