Use of medicines to control mosquitoes
BIRGUNJ: NOV. 5 – Birgunj Metropolitan City has started spraying ‘medicine’ to control mosquitoes. With the onset of the winter season, the Metropolitan City has started spraying medicine to control the mosquito outbreak in the metropolitan area.
Mayor Bijay Kumar Sarawagi informed that medicine will be sprayed in all 32 wards of the metropolis to prevent the spread of deadly diseases like dengue and malaria which can be spread by mosquito bites. It is said that this work will be carried out till Nov 26.
Earlier, from Oct. 19 to 28 the Metropolitan City had sprayed bleaching powder in open drains and ditches to kill mosquito larvae. Mosquitoes reach adulthood through full larvae and pupae. It grows in frozen water in stagnant ponds, fields and ditches. Dengue-spreading mosquitoes thrive in frozen water on tires, in clean water in refrigerators, pots or tanks.
With the onset of cold and hot weather, there has been an outbreak of mosquitoes in Birgunj. The Birgunj Metropolitan City has been spraying medicine twice a year to prevent mosquitoes from growing and to control the growth.
