Gajuri to win first Dhading district level T20 cricket tournament
KATHMANDU: NOV. 5 – Gajuri Community Social Development Team has won the title of the first Dhading District T20 Cricket Tournament. Gajuri defeated Tripura Sundari by 21 runs in the final on Thursday.
Gajuri, who won the toss and elected to bat, was all out for 110 runs in 20 overs at the Chandrodaya Multipurpose Campus in Bishaltar. Gajuri’s Sabin Upreti top-scored with 28 off 34 balls with three boundaries. Surendra Magar hit 1 four and 2 sixes in 26 balls and scored 26 runs.
Tripura Sundari’s medium pacer Anil Adhikari took 2 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. Shrikrishna and Uday Thapa took 191 wickets each. Chasing the winning target of 111 runs, Tripura Sundari lost 9 wickets in 20 overs and managed to score only 89 runs. Uday Thapa of Tripura Sundari scored 21 runs off 25 balls.
Gajuri’s medium pacer Sanu Ghale took 3 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs. Amrit Thapa became the best batsman of the tournament. Amrit had scored 237 runs in 5 games to reach the final. Ujjwal Thapa of Gajuri was declared the best player and best bowler of the tournament. He had the best all-around performance of the tournament to help Gajuri win the title. He scored 260 runs and took 16 wickets throughout the tournament.
Gajuri’s capable Kharel was declared the young emerging player. He took 5 wickets in the tournament and left a good impression. Fourteen teams from the district participated in the competition. The district-level competition was organized by Dhading District Cricket Association for the first time. Meanwhile, champion Gajuri received Rs 1 lakh and runner-up Tripura Sundari received Rs 50,000.
