Former winners West Indies exited the group stage
KATHMANDU: NOV. 5 – Sri Lanka have beaten the West Indies by 20 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup. Chasing the 190-run target set by Sri Lanka in last night’s match, West Indies scored 169 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.
Shimron Heitmeyer scored an unbeaten 81 for the West Indies. Similarly, Nicholas Pooran scored 46 runs while other West Indies batsmen could not score double figures. Similarly, Sri Lankan bowlers Binura Fernando, Chamika Karunaratne and Wanindu Hasaranga took 2-2 wickets. Similarly, Dushmantha Chameera and Danus Shanaka took one wicket each.
Earlier, losing the toss and batting first, Sri Lanka lost 3 wickets in 20 overs and scored 189 runs. Charith Asalanka was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 68 runs while Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer with 51 runs.
