Australia is in second place after defeating Bangladesh

KATHMANDU: NOV. 5 – Australia beat Bangladesh by a wide margin in the fourth match of the Super 12 of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE. With the victory, Australia has risen to the second position in Group 1. Australia maintained their semi-final chances with an 8-wicket win.

Batting first after losing the toss, Bangladesh remained unbeaten against the Australian bowlers. Bangladesh were all out for just 74 runs. Australia completed the target by losing 2 wickets in just 6.2 overs.

Australia captain Aaron Finch scored 40 off 20 balls with two fours and four sixes while David Warner added 18 off 14 balls with three fours while Mitchell Marsh remained unbeaten on 16 off five balls with two fours and one six.

Earlier, batting first, Bangladesh were all out for 73 runs in 15 overs. Mitchell Starc gave Liton Das a golden duck in the first over. In the second over, Josh Hazlewood bowled Soumya Sarkar for 5 runs.

None of the players were able to perform fast. Shamim Hossain was the top scorer with 19 runs. Similarly, opener Mohammad Naeem scored 17 runs and captain Mahmudullah scored 16 runs. His eight batsmen could not score a double run.

Adam Zampa took 5 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs for Australia. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood took 2-2 wickets apiece.
