Permission for the first pill against COVID-19
KATHMANDU: NOV. 5 – The UK has allowed the first pill against COVID-19. The United Kingdom has approved the use of food drugs jointly developed by US companies Merck, Sharp & Dome and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics.
The Medicines and Healthcare Authority (MHRA) of the United Kingdom has approved the use of this medicine called Molnupiravir. The pill is said to be eaten within five days of coronavirus infection.
The pill is said to be the world’s first anti-corona drug, which has been approved for use. According to the results of the clinical trial of Molnupiravir, the chances of death from coronavirus infection have been reduced by half.
In the UK, the drug has been dubbed Lagavario, but its use is said to be effective at a time when coronavirus infections are on the rise.
Initially developed for the treatment of colds, the pill has been shown to reduce the risk of hospitalization or death by half, according to clinical trials.
