Deuba’s speech in COP26: ‘We will hold Everest Sambaad soon’
KATHMANDU: NOV. 2 – Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is in Scotland to attend the United Nations Climate Conference (COP26), has said that Nepal will soon organize the Everest Dialogue. Stating that Nepal is aware of climate change, Prime Minister Deuba said that a related conference ‘Everest Dialogue’ would be organized soon.
Prime Minister Deuba said that the Everest Dialogue would be organized to send a message to the world about the climate impact of the Hindu Kush Himalayan region including Everest. He said: “Keeping global temperatures within 1.5 degrees Celsius can save the lives of mountain people.”
The government had decided to postpone the Everest Dialogue on March 2 after the coronavirus ‘entry’. Since then, the Everest Dialogue has not been organized.
