Chief Justice has been adamant that he will not resign if anyone asks for it
KATHMANDU: NOV. 2 – For the past three days, lawyers have been protesting at the Supreme Court premises demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana. They also continued their third day of protests on Tuesday.
Today is the last day of the five-day deadline given by lawyers for the resignation of Chief Justice JB Rana. Legal practitioners led by the Nepal Bar Association are holding a sit-in at the Supreme Court premises with black bandages on their hands.
The Nepal Bar Association has been staging a one-hour sit-in since Oct. 31 demanding the resignation of Chief Justice JB Rana, saying that he has not been able to stop the distortion, inconsistency and corruption and maintain the cleanliness and dignity of the judiciary.
The Nepal Bar Association is preparing to announce additional protest programs if he does not resign till today. But Chief Justice JB Rana has not given up. He has been adamant that he will not resign if anyone asks for it.
After his lawyers demanded his resignation, Chief Justice JB Rana said he wanted a “dignified exit”.
