Chief Justice Cholendra JB Rana has started the hearing in a single sitting
KATHMANDU: OCT. 31 – Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana has started hearing in the bench on Sunday. Amidst opinions and pressure from Supreme Court judges, the Nepal Bar Association and the Supreme Bar Association, former chief justices and judges, the hearing has begun.
They have been pressuring Chief Justice JB Rana to resign but not to sit in the bench. However, Jabbar has started hearing in a single sitting.
According to the Supreme Court administration, Chief Justice JB Rana in his single sitting has held a preliminary hearing on the jurisdiction attached to the case which has reached the Nepal Army Special Court.
The writ petition filed by the Attorney General’s Office was debated by the public prosecutors. The order of the case is yet to come. The Nepal Bar Association had earlier urged Chief Justice JB Rana not to hold any sitting.
Ignoring Bar’s request, he scheduled the session. Though no hearing of other sessions could be held on Sunday, the hearing was held in the single session of JB Rana.
