Fraud through social media has increased, police urged to remain vigilant
KATHMANDU: OCT. 31 – Police have urged the citizens to remain vigilant saying that the number of people cheating by borrowing or asking for help by hacking social media has increased. Chief of the Metropolitan Crime Branch, Senior Superintendent of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung has requested to send money only after confirming by phone if anyone asks for a loan or help through messenger as the number of people cheating by asking for a loan or help through mobile banking or e-Sewa etc. has increased.
He has urged the people not to believe if anyone asks for help and to help only by confirming by phone. He said, “There is a widespread trend of hacking Facebook, Messenger, mobile banking or e-Sewa and asking for loans or assistance, so if someone asks for money or help through Messenger, you can only send it by confirming by phone.”
