Floods, landslides and inundation killed 121, 28 gone missing
KATHMANDU: OCT. 31 – According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 121 people have died in the disaster so far this Kartik (Oct/Nov). According to the National Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry, 28 people have gone missing due to the floods.
A total of 44 people were injured and 179 houses were damaged, according to the Center. The human casualties have been caused due to incessant rains from Oct. 17 to 20. One week after the onset of monsoon, two systems were developed and heavy rains fell in Nepal. The eastern and western regions of Nepal were badly affected by the rains. Large landslides have caused more human damage.
As many as 63 people were killed and 19 others went missing on Oct. 20. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 29 people were killed on Oct. 21 and 13 on Oct. 22. The search for the missing continues and the management of relief and in-patient shelters is ongoing, the ministry said.
