The Insurance Committee gave 4 options to pay 11 billion of corona insurance
KATHMANDU: OCT. 29 – The Insurance Committee has submitted four options to the government for the payment of corona insurance claims. The Insurance Committee has stated that it has submitted a suggestion to the Finance Ministry with options for payment of Rs 11 billion for corona insurance claims before Dashain.
Finance Minister Janardan Sharma said that the claim amount of corona Insurance was large and it was difficult to ensure the source for its payment. Minister Sharma had called the chairman of the committee Surya Prasad Silwal and asked him to come up with suggestions on how to settle the claim.
The committee has informed that it has submitted suggestions with four options as per the request of Minister Sharma.
Among the options suggested by the committee are COVID Insurance, which can be paid from the amount received by issuing bonds, Nepal Reinsurance can be paid by selling the company’s founding shares, insurance companies can be tax-exempt by the state for a certain period of time and government insurance companies can pay by insuring civil servants.
The government had issued a Corona insurance policy at the time of the outbreak of COVID-19. The number of insurers has increased after the issuance of insurance policies during the epidemic and the impact of the epidemic has increased.
The committee has purchased 27 lakh 16 thousand 5 hundred 41 people for one year. In this regard, an insurance fee of Rs 1 billion 5 crores 5 lakh 27 thousand rupees has been collected.
The companies have claimed Rs 13.14 billion 17 lakh. But so far, claims of Rs 4 billion 788.1 million have been paid.
