KATHMANDU: OCT. 29 – Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has left for the United Kingdom today leading the Nepali delegation to the World leaders Summit of the 26th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26).

He was bade farewell by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Vice President of Nepali Congress Bimalendra Nidhi, Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi, high-ranking government officials and security chiefs at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

Prime Minister Deuba will attend the formal inauguration of COP26 on November 1. He is scheduled to address the World Leaders Summit on behalf of Nepal. On the same evening, the Prime Minister will attend a reception hosted by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in honour of the participating nations and heads of government.

COP26 is being held from October 31 to November 12 in Glasgow, United Kingdom. On this occasion, Prime Minister Deuba is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state and government and other dignitaries. He will also attend a breakfast reception hosted by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Johnson and the Prime Minister of Scotland for a limited number of heads of state and government on the morning of November 2, according to the Foreign Office.

Prime Minister Deuba will visit the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 3. He will also plant saplings in Nepali gardens.

While in the UK, Prime Minister Deuba will address a reception hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Nepal (APPG-N) and the UK-Nepal Business and Investment Forum in London on October 30. While there, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with representatives of the UK-Nepal Society, the Non-Resident Nepali Association and the Nepali community living in the UK, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On October 31, Prime Minister Deuba will attend a reception hosted by the Nepalese Embassy in London in his honour. He will also meet representatives of former Gurkha organizations, members of the British Parliament and other Nepali expatriate members.

The delegation led by Prime Minister Deuba includes Minister for Forests and Environment Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bharatraj Poudyal, Secretary at the Ministry of Forests and Environment Dr Prem Narayan Kandel, Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Madhu Kumar Marasini, Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Teknarayan Pandey, Secretary at the National Planning Commission Kewal Prasad Bhandari and Chairman of the National Nature Conservation Fund Dr Madhav Bahadur Karki are participants. He is scheduled to return home on November 4.
