Recommendations of esteemed persons in the diplomatic field to the ambassadors of the three countries
KATHMANDU: OCT. 29 – The government has recommended ambassadors to India, the United Kingdom and the United States. A cabinet meeting on Thursday decided to recommend Dr Shankar Sharma for India, Gyan Chandra Acharya for the United Kingdom and Prof Shridhar Khatri for the United States.
Sharma is a former ambassador to the United States. He is also the former vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission. Prof. Khatri is an expert on foreign affairs. He has worked in the field of foreign affairs in various capacities.
Acharya is a former foreign secretary and head of the New York-based mission to the United Nations. All three are knowledgeable and respected figures in the diplomatic field.
The names of all three will be sent to Agrimo after the parliamentary hearing. There is an arrangement for appointment by the President after the arrival of Agrimo.
The government had earlier recalled Nepali ambassadors to all three countries. Nilambar Acharya was the Ambassador to India, Dr Yuvraj Khatiwada to the United States and Lokdarshan Regmi to the United Kingdom.
