‘Thula Maccha-Sana Maccha’ (Big Fish-Small Fish) staged in Biratnagar
BIRATNAGAR: OCT. 24 – A ‘Thula Maccha-Sana Maccha’ (Big Fish-Small Fish) has been staged in Biratnagar on Friday under the Shilpi Theater’s free theater campaign. The artist has started the campaign by staging the play ‘Big Fish-Small Fish’ in Biratnagar.
The artist will stage the play in 21 places in Morang, Sunsari and Jhapa of State-1. The play, which started from Biratnagar, will be staged in Rangeli, Biratchowk, Itahari, Dharan, Inaruwa, Damak, Birtamode, Kakarbhitta and other places, said director Ghimire Yuvaraj.
The play has powerfully raised the issue of how the political leadership and the staff have caused grief to the people. The play also tries to show the arbitrary and financial irregularities taking place in the name of development at the local level.
The play highlights the extent to which farmers and workers have suffered from the government, contractors and middlemen. Director Ghimire informed that the best four poems written on the basis of the staged play will be awarded Rs 25,000 each. According to him, ‘Thula Maccha-Sana Maccha’ will be staged across the country and the poems received after that will be rewarded.
The play was conceived and directed by Ghimire Yuvaraj and starred Pabitra Khadka, Renuka Karki Dholi, Sabin Kattel, Sangata Urao, Manhang Lawati, Ashim Khanal, Jyoti Pokhrel, Rabin Pariyar, Govind Oli, Jack Baral, Himal Bhujel and Sanjit Thulung Rai.
Established in 2063 BS, Shilpi has been conducting acting training for three months. The artist, who has been staging various plays from time to time at the national and international level, has been conducting theater programs in the village. Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala, leaders of various political parties, writers, journalists and intellectuals were present as spectators.
