Damage of Rs 1.5 billion on national highways due to unseasonal rains

KATHMANDU: OCT. 24 – The Department of Roads has made public the preliminary details of the damage caused to the national highways to the tune of Rs 1.5 billion due to the unseasonal heavy rains in late September and early October.

Director-General of the Department Arjun Jung Thapa presented the statement in the Development and Technology Committee of the Parliament.

He said that the floods, landslides, inundation and erosion caused by the rains had caused the same amount of damage.

The committee has been holding discussions with the concerned parties including the Minister for Physical Infrastructure, Secretary and Director General of the Road Department from 12 noon on Sunday to discuss the road infrastructure damaged due to floods, landslides and inundation.
