DHANKUTA: OCT. 19 – The Dharan-Dhankuta connection has been severed due to the flood in the Leuti River of Dhankuta due to incessant rains.

The road under Koshi Highway was blocked at around 4 pm on Tuesday when about 200 meters of the paved road was washed away. Chief of the District Police Office, Dhankuta, SP Nahkul Pokhrel said that the road was cut off due to heavy rains.

Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Pantha informed that the traffic in the hilly district via Dharan-Dhankuta was disrupted after the road was flooded. Officer Pantha informed that it was inconvenient to operate the road immediately due to continuous rain. He said that it would not be possible to operate immediately if the rains did not stop.

Similarly, a landslide in Pakhribas Municipality-5 Dikure had blocked the Mid-Hill Highway. But it is open in the evening.

Meanwhile, the road in Salleri of Dhankuta Municipality-4 has also been blocked by falling pine trees, said Officer Pantha.

Although some of the trees were removed with the help of security personnel, the vehicles that were stuck in the electricity poles could not be removed.
