Rains and floods kill 18 in India, dozens missing

NEW DELHI: OCT. 17 – At least 18 people were killed in incessant rains and floods in the southern Indian state of Kerala on Saturday. Dozens more have gone missing. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least two places.

Dozens have gone missing in the landslide. Floods and landslides have been reported in the Idukki and Kottayam districts of the southern state of Kerala, police said. According to the Hindustan Times, a local newspaper in Kottayam district has suffered the most damage. Most of those killed and missing in the floods are from the district.

It has been raining here till Sunday morning. Some local roads have also been blocked due to the floods. Meteorological Department officials said the rain would continue on Sunday.
