Amid protests, govt. withdrew the railway bill
KATHMANDU: OCT. 11 – The government has withdrawn the Railway Bill 2076 from the House of Representatives amid obstacles from the main opposition.
In the House of Representatives sitting on Monday, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Renu Yadav had submitted a proposal to withdraw the Railway Bill 2076 which was under consideration in the House of Representatives. The meeting approved the proposal.
Speaker Agni Sapkota read out a letter from the President’s Office regarding the formation of the Council of Ministers and the third annual report of the Madhesi Commission was presented at the meeting.
Earlier, UML lawmakers had obstructed the meeting by chanting slogans. In the process, they chanted slogans saying that the UML had taken action against the lawmakers. Speaker Agni Sapkot had moved the agenda after the UML lawmakers continued their protest.
The next meeting of the House of Representatives has been called on Oct. 26.
