Motipur incident: Administration claims that police fired after locals hurled petrol bombs
KATHMANDU: OCT. 11 – A petrol bomb was found in a clash between police and locals at Butwal Motipur Industrial Area in Rupandehi on Sunday. Assistant Chief District Officer and Spokesperson Krishna Prasad Pandey said that many security personnel were injured when locals hurled stones and petrol bombs during the protest.

According to superintendent Pandey, an all-party meeting was held on Sunday evening to discuss the incident. He said that the all-party meeting in the presence of the Chief District Officer, Chief of Police and political parties and locals has had a positive discussion for resolving the dispute. However, a curfew has been imposed to keep the situation under control.
He said that the locals have already received compensation for the land after the declaration of the industrial zone. However, he asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture. He said that the problem was due to the arrival of new people in the settlement in the hope of getting land.
The all-party meeting also discussed proper management, Pandey added, adding that preliminary information has been received that new people have come to the settlement in the hope of getting land.
So far, four people have been killed in the incident. One of the deceased has been identified. According to the Home Ministry, 20-year-old Ramesh Pariyar of Kapilvastu Banganga-10 has been identified. He died at 6:30 pm while undergoing treatment, according to the Home Ministry.
About 45 people have been injured in the incident. Among the injured are 16 civilians, 16 district police and 15 armed policemen, said Assistant Superintendent Pandey.
