KATHMANDU: OCT. 10 – Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gajendra Bahadur Hamal has resigned from the post. Some time ago, Hamal reached the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar and submitted his resignation letter.

In the Council of Ministers, there was a widespread protest against the appointment of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana in the ‘quota’. According to Hamal, he resigned as he used his discretion and did not want to get involved in the controversy. According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Hamal has returned with a letter of resignation.

After the controversy, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also asked Hamal to resign. He is the elder brother of Chief Justice Rana.
