Industry Minister Gajendra Hamal resigns
KATHMANDU: OCT. 10 – Newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gajendra Hamal is set to resign. Stating that he has used his discretion and will not get involved in the dispute, he said that he is about to resign.
In the Council of Ministers, there was a widespread protest against the appointment of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana in the ‘quota’. After the controversy and protest, Hamal told the media that he was going to resign in the afternoon. “It simply came to our notice then. The man who has been contributing to the Congress for 45 years has been dragged into unnecessary controversy, ‘said Hamal.’ There has been pressure not to resign, but I will resign. ‘
He is preparing to submit his resignation letter to the Prime Minister today. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has also been criticized by his own party and outside for making Hamal a minister.
