Four sections along Beni-Jomsom-Korala road gravelled

MYAGDI: OCT. 8 – The construction of four sections along the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road project under the Kaligandaki Corridor has been completed.

The project combining a total of 11 sections stretches to Korala checkpoint in the northern Mustang is being upgraded and so the works on four sections get over. The works to upgrade the route had begun in the fiscal year 2073/74 BS (2016-17).

According to Project officiating chief Ashwini Kumar Yadav, the 76-kilometer Beni-Jomsom route comprising four sections reports 65 percent progress while the 110-kilometer Jomsom-Korala route circuit integrating seven segments has witnessed 85 percent progress.

Four sections, out of seven, along the Jomsom-Korala route have been already graveled and have been handed to the Project by contractors. Likewise, works for the three remaining sections are about to complete.

The 16 kilometers section of the Kaligandaki Corridor from Chhoser up to the No 24 border pillar on the Nepal-China border in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-1 was graveled and widened to 11 meters in 2018. Similarly, structures like a drain, gabion wall and masonry wall were constructed. It was contracted to Diwa-Rautaha-Apex JV.

The Project also stated that works of upgrading the Bhena-Ghiling, Jomsom-Kagbeni-Tangwe and Tangwe-Chaile road sections have been completed. Rs 5 billion 134 million 800 thousand of the estimated cost of Rs 6 billion of the Project has been spent till the Fiscal Year 2020/21.

Similarly, the Project stated that Rs 462 million was spent in the Fiscal Year 2016/17, Rs 1 billion 525 million 200 million in the Fiscal Year 2017/18, Rs 1 billion 310 million in the Fiscal Year 2018/19, Rs 902 million 500 thousand in the Fiscal Year 2019/20 and Rs 935 million of Rs 1 billion 249 million 350 thousand has been spent under the Project for construction of road and bridges.

Rs 813 million 200 thousand has been spent towards road upgrading and Rs 128 million 700 thousand towards bridge construction in the Fiscal Year 2020/21. Around 20 motorable bridges are under construction at various places of the road section.
