Government reiterated that the Chief Justice did not participate in the cabinet
KATHMANDU; OCT. 8 – The government has reiterated that there is no truth in the allegation that the Chief Justice has asked for a share in the cabinet. Earlier, Law Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who was also the government’s spokesperson, had said that there was no truth in the Chief Justice’s attempt to escape.
In a meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday (today), Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party MP Prem Suwal had drawn the government’s attention saying that the Chief Justice had asked for a share in the government. After that, Karki said this while replying. “It’s not true that the chief justice is seeking a seat in the cabinet,” Karki said.
Earlier, it was reported in various media that the Chief Justice was seeking a seat in the Council of Ministers. The news was also refuted by the Supreme Court, while the Bar Association said it was unconstitutional to link the Chief Justice to the expansion of the Council of Ministers.
