The leading Congress could not decide the minister
KATHMANDU: OCT. 8 – Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is preparing to complete the cabinet by Friday (today) afternoon. However, his party, the Nepali Congress, has not yet decided on the number of ministers. This problem is due to the factions within the Congress which got 7 ministries.
Within the Congress, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel’s group and leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula’s group exist and are active. They are looking for a share in the government. The Poudel faction has not given up its stand that there should be three ministries on its part, while the Sitaula faction also intends to have two ministries.
So far, four ministers have been appointed from the establishment side. Prime Minister Deuba has sent Narayan Khadka in foreign affairs, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki in law, Bal Krishna Khand in-home and Umesh Shrestha in health.
While the Poudel faction is saying that there should be a mandatory three ministries, Prime Minister Deuba is not thinking of giving three ministries. Prime Minister Deuba has said that Poudel will be given two ministries and the Sitaula group will be given one ministry. The Sitaula group has not protested. He has only two MPs. Meanwhile, Dilendra Baddu and Tejulal Chaudhary are among the leaders joining the government from the Sitaula group. According to reports, Baddu is more likely.
The Poudel faction, on the other hand, has maintained that it has three ministries. Earlier, Poudel had met Prime Minister Deuba and told him that there was an obligation to have three ministries. During the meeting, Poudel (Poudel, Koirala and Singh) told Prime Minister Deuba that they were obliged to send one member each from the family to the government. However, Prime Minister Deuba Poudel’s demand has not been heard positively. It is seen that there will be further delay after this.
Leaders say that Deuba is making a strategy to make the leader who leaves the Poudel group a minister on his behalf on the condition of cooperating in the general convention. It is said that Deuba is ready to ‘cache’ the dissatisfaction seen in the Poudel group while appointing him as a minister.
It is said that Sujata Koirala, Minendra Rijal and others from the Poudel-Koirala faction will join the government. After Prime Minister Deuba said that he would give only two ministries, Prakash Man Singh could not participate. Singh had tried to make Rajan KC a minister. Singh is outraged that Poudel and Koirala are seen participating in the government.
