Action taken against eight traders selling non-food items
DOTI: OCT. 8 – Action has been taken against eight traders selling expired non-food items in the district. During the joint market monitoring conducted at Pipalla, Rajpur and Dipayal on Thursday under the leadership of Assistant Chief District Officer Kiran Joshi, the action was taken against the traders selling non-food items in the market.
Ghatal Suppliers, Janaki Dairy and Confectionery Store, Deuba Tedders Grocery and Vegetable Shop, Rajan Grocery Shop Pipalla, Kalel Traders and Suppliers and New Joshi Retail Shop Rajpur are among the shops that came under action during the monitoring.
According to Joshi, coordinator and assistant of the Joint Market Monitoring Committee, the shops were destroyed as per the Consumer Interest Protection Act and expired food items were taken under control.
Monitoring of only 14 shops here found that such a large number of non-food items were being sold and distributed. The monitoring team also monitored food and grocery stores, restaurants and meat shops.
Ram Bahadur Bista, a resident of Dipayal Pipalla, said that the sale and distribution of non-food items in the market has been facilitated as the monitoring is done only during festivals in the district.
