Ninth session of the state assembly is starting from today
BIRATNAGAR: OCT. 8 – The ninth session of the state assembly is starting from today. Pursuant to Article 183 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal, Chief Somnath Adhikari Pyasi has convened the ninth and winter session of the State Assembly of State 1 today.
No formal agenda has been made public in the parliament meeting convened at 2 pm today. According to the Parliament Secretariat, the agenda will be decided after the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee.
The Parliament Secretariat, on the other hand, has said that the parliamentary session will start in the same manner as before. The opposition alliance has been saying that Chief Minister Bhim Acharya should take a vote of confidence without any agenda.
The Speaker has called a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee at 11 am to discuss the agenda. The opposition alliance has said that the first task of the minority chief minister should be to get a vote of confidence from the state assembly.
CPN-Maoist parliamentary party leader Indra Angbo said that the state government, which lost by a minority vote, should submit a proposal to the state assembly for a vote of confidence today. “There is a provision in the rules of procedure of the state assembly that a proposal for a vote of confidence must be submitted to the state assembly two days before the vote of confidence,” he said.
There is no sign of the state government registering a motion of confidence today. The Opposition Coalition is preparing to hold a meeting after the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee to discuss how to move forward in the absence of a motion of confidence.
