PM is preparing to complete the cabinet today
KATHMANDU: OCT. 8 – Coalition parties have made final preparations to expand the cabinet. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is preparing to expand the Council of Ministers as soon as the names of those who will become ministers are received from the parties.
As per the agreement, the Congress will have eight ministries including the Prime Minister, the Maoists five, the Unified Socialists and the JSP four each. Congress, Maoists and S will also get 1-1 Minister of State. Of the five parties in the alliance, the Rastriya Janamorcha will not participate in the government but will support it from outside. The cabinet is set to expand at 11 am today and take oath at 4 pm.
It has been agreed to give him the post of Chief Minister in the Ministry of Health and State 1 and Bagmati instead of the Ministry of Law. Chairman of the party Madhav Kumar Nepal informed about the agreement reached in Baluwatar at the standing committee meeting, said General Secretary Beduram Bhusal. “It has been agreed to have four ministries, one minister of state, one state and one chief minister of Bagmati State,” he said.
Earlier, the UCPN (Maoist) was given the ministry of law, but Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had tried to appoint a person of their own. The coalition meeting has manipulated the distribution of ministries after the UCPN (Maoist) warned that it would have to reconsider the issue of joining the government.
