Coalition meeting to be held before the completion of the Council of Ministers
KATHMANDU: OCT. 7 – Leaders have said that the cabinet will be completed today. But before that, a meeting of the ruling coalition is being held. Among the parties in the alliance, the Rastriya Janamorcha has said it will stay out and support the government. Apart from this, the parties participating in the government include Congress, Maoists, Unified Socialists and JSP.
The ministerial division between the parties has ended. However, the parties are still discussing who will lead the government or which ministry will be given to which leader. This is likely to delay the cabinet. However, the leaders have said that it will be completed today. Leaders including UCPN (M) chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and UCPN (Maoist) leader Metmani Chaudhary have said that the cabinet is likely to be completed by 3 pm today.
A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Unified Socialists is being held. A meeting of the ruling coalition will be held soon after the meeting. Earlier in the day, a meeting of the ruling coalition on Tuesday discussed the division of ministries and reached a broad consensus.
In that context, it has been agreed that Congress will get seven ministries, the Maoist Center six and the Socialists and Jaspa four each. According to sources, the Unified Socialists have expressed dissatisfaction over this number.
Today’s meeting draws conclusions on these issues and the coalition is preparing to expand the Council of Ministers by evening.
