Clashes erupt in Dadeldhura between the two parties
DHANGADHI: OCT. 3 – Clashes have broken out between the two parties at a meeting of the Nepali Congress in Dadeldhura. The clash took place in Dadeldhura, the home district of Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Congress central members Arjun Singh KC, Dr Shekhar Koirala and Gururaj Ghimire are participating in the meeting convened by other groups.
It is said that the clash took place when Deuba’s side tried to intervene during the public meeting.
Mahendra Nepal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Dadeldhura, said that there was only a scuffle between the Nepali Congress cadres. He said that the details of the injured have not reached the police. He said that the party meeting was going on.
The dispute has been escalating in Dadeldhura Congress after Deuba intervened in the ward and municipality convention amid protests by district president Karna Malla’s group.
The Malla group has been demanding re-assembly from the ward in the district. The Malla group had also gone on a hunger strike to protest against President Deuba’s interference in the convention.
The 11-day strike has been postponed after leaders arrived in Dadeldhura on Sunday to study the dispute.
